The Apprentice Years

Between the first crossing and the forge, he passed through quieter halls, where research, grants, models, and capital revealed different ways to move the same burden.

Stanford and the National Science Foundation named him a fellow, charged with building a home for founders in underserved places like the one he grew up in. It was a Peace Corps in reverse: others had gone from America to serve in Nepal, and now he had come from Nepal to serve in America. There he gathered his first company of makers. Five strong, they carried a university from paper to the cloud, to apps and to decisions made on data, and saved it more than six million dollars. When the earth shook his homeland in 2015, he gathered the cries for help scattered across the wires into one map for the rescuers.
